My most important role
I feel deep fulfillment every day in knowing I contributed to bringing solar mobility to the world, and I am privileged to have made an impact on the environment through my work at a company I love. My time as CMO at Aptera never felt like “work”—it was a true passion.
However, there is a role even more meaningful to me, and that’s being a mother to my son, Elliott. From Elliott, I’ve learned about myself, the Earth, and the power of kindness. I’ve also had the opportunity to teach him how to be a good steward of the planet.
Elliott says he’s Aptera’s number one fan, and he recently asked me a very poignant question: “Why aren’t all cars solar-powered?” This struck me as a very astute question. Of course, we know that successfully making a solar vehicle is a highly complex challenge—one that was deemed impossible not too long ago.
But in asking this question, Elliott highlights an important point: when we consider the environment—first and foremost—we can’t let the “impossible” stand in our way.
Now that Elliott’s generation can see that solar mobility is tangible, I’m encouraged by the idea of how they will build upon the work we’ve done, challenging the next limits of technology. At Aptera, there was always a strong awareness of the weight of this work, and a deep connection to the future generations of changemakers. A key part of this understanding was being students of the Earth, of one another, and of the youngest among us.
